Client Vision & Motivation
Homes in the Historic Elmwood Park neighborhood of Downtown Columbia, SC are full of character and connection to the past. Because of the downtown setting and higher density, many properties don’t include features like on-site garages. This property was different - it had the space.
Our client had recently moved to Columbia for work and wanted to add both personality and practicality to their new home by building a dedicated garage and workout space. Now, the property feels complete, and the new garage makes this home a rare find in this historic district.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
We started with almost a blank slate. Aside from some necessary site work and clearing, the property was ready to go—almost as if it was made for a new garage.
Our Team partnered closely with our client from the very beginning, guiding the project from initial concept through Pre-Construction planning, drawings, design, budgeting, and onto the final on-site build.
The full project scope included:

- A new, full-length driveway from the main road to the garage

This client was different. They stayed upbeat, positive, and genuinely enthusiastic from day one through the final Celebration Meeting. That kind of energy is contagious and makes for an overall fun experience for all of us involved.
FUN FACT
On the day our team arrived to take final photos of the project, this beautifully restored Chevy arrived as well. We almost asked our client to move it, but it was such a standout that we knew it had to stay in the shots.
It’s pretty special knowing this new detached garage will be home to a classic truck like this.
