Jan. 13, 2026 ## Let’s Talk About Budget (Because Every Remodel Has One) As much as we all wish it weren’t true, every project has a budget. That budget might be based on affordability, what feels worth it to you, or what makes sense for your home and your market—but it exists for everyone. At Bald Cypress Builders, our role is to respect those financial boundaries (within reason) and design a project that delivers long-term value and a finished result that truly exceeds expectations. One of the best ways to start is by understanding what remodel costs can look like in the Midlands of South Carolina and [what drives those numbers](https://baldcypressbuilders.com/blog/how-much-does-home-remodeling-cost-in-columbia-lexington-sc). While we can’t promise an exact cost picture for 2026 projects, we can share real costs from recent projects to help you plan with clarity and confidence. ## Why Cost Clarity Matters Before You Begin A remodel isn’t just a financial investment—it’s an investment of your time, energy, emotions, and mental bandwidth. Having a clear sense of the financial “lane” you’re in helps: - Set realistic expectations - Guide smart design decisions - Determine what’s truly feasible - Reduce stress along the way Many factors influence overall project cost (we cover those in more depth in [another blog post](https://baldcypressbuilders.com/blog/how-much-does-home-remodeling-cost-in-columbia-lexington-sc)). For now, we’re keeping things simple by sharing real projects we’ve completed, along with their actual costs. No generic internet estimates—just firsthand experience from BCB. ## A Quick Note on Comparing Costs You’ve probably heard “you get what you pay for.” In construction, that couldn’t be more true. When reviewing the numbers below, remember that you’re not comparing apples to apples across different companies. Every builder offers a different process, level of service, and quality of finished product. You also aren't comparing apples to apples when thinking about YOUR space compared to others. Every space brings its own unique conditions, which dictate design and cost. The costs below reflect how we work at Bald Cypress Builders—from Pre-Construction through completion. Our focus is a thoughtful process, strong communication, and long-lasting quality that leaves clients saying, “That was worth it.” To respect client privacy, we’re not pairing photos with individual project breakdowns, but photos throughout this post are from completed BCB projects. Because every remodel is custom, costs below are shown as ranges. Lastly, keep in mind that some projects below include different "during construction" services like interior design and others don’t, which can affect pricing. ### About Pre-Construction Costs The costs listed below do not include [Pre-Construction](https://baldcypressbuilders.com/blog/value-of-pre-construction-home-remodeling-lexington-sc-columbia-sc) Fees, which are a separate investment in our design-build process. Pre-Construction costs typically range from $3,000–$12,000+, depending on project scope and complexity. These fees cover critical planning services, and 50% is applied toward construction costs once your project moves forward into construction with us. - ![primary suite lexington sc](https://baldcypressbuilders.com/hs-fs/hubfs/2026%20Blogs/21.png?width=1920&height=1080&name=21.png) Hover message - ![main living room remodel lexington sc](https://baldcypressbuilders.com/hs-fs/hubfs/2026%20Blogs/6.png?width=1920&height=1080&name=6.png) Hover message ## Real Project CONSTRUCTION Cost Examples IN THE Midlands of South Carolina ### *2025 Function-Focused, Small Kitchen Remodel* Scope: Kitchen and laundry demo, new kitchen and laundry (no structural changes), LVP flooring in main living area Construction Cost: $55k–$65k ### *2025 Two-Story Home Addition + Kitchen Remodel* Scope: Two-story addition (family room, laundry, half bath, two bedrooms, full bath), covered porch addition, refinishing existing kitchen cabinets/adding some new custom cabinetry, new pantry, new & refinished hardwoods Construction Cost: $325k–$350k ### *2025 Kitchen Remodel + Primary Bath Remodel + Bath Refresh* Scope: Kitchen and drop-zone overhaul, primary bath remodel with structural changes, secondary bath refresh Construction Cost: $160k–$175k ### *2025 Multi-Space Remodel* Scope: Complete kitchen remodel, family room & entry refresh, primary suite remodel (bed, bath, closets), refinished floors, paint, misc. custom projects throughout Construction Cost: $280k–$295k ### *2025 Whole-Home Remodel* Scope: Three-story whole-home remodel including exterior & site work Construction Cost: $650k–$725k ### *2025 Function-Focused Home Addition* Scope: Addition with home office, primary closet, & primary bathroom Construction Cost: $135k–$145k ### *2025 Kitchen Remodel “Plus”* Scope: Kitchen remodel, laundry/mudroom revamp, new hardwoods on main level, popcorn ceiling removal, interior paint Construction Cost: $170k–$180k ### *2025 Primary Bathroom Remodel* Scope: Primary bath remodel without major structural changes Construction Cost: $60k–$70k   - ![2 story home addition columbia sc](https://baldcypressbuilders.com/hs-fs/hubfs/laundry.jpg?width=6723&height=4482&name=laundry.jpg) Hover message - ![kitchen + mudroom remodel lexington sc](https://baldcypressbuilders.com/hs-fs/hubfs/2026%20Blogs/18.png?width=1920&height=1080&name=18.png) Hover message ## Big Things to Keep in Mind - Don’t let these numbers scare—or excite—you.
